Dr. Simon Estes, Iowa born international opera star,
and
NFMC citation recipient has made a CD entitled,
Save the Children, Save Their Lives
because, “I want to share the gift of voice God has
given me and give something back.
Dr.
Estes has offered to donate $5.00 from every sale of
the CD purchased by and through NFMC members to be
applied to an NFMC award in the areas of music and
education. The Simon Estes School of Music in Cape
Town, South Africa, which serves some of the poorest
children in South Africa, will also benefit from the
sale of the CD.
Here
is what Dr. Estes says in the CD jacket: “All of
the songs on this CD were recorded in
Iowa.
All of the songs on this CD are designed to
stimulate love for one another. The Negro
Spirituals were originally inspired while slaves
were working in cotton fields. The words were out
of their hearts desire to have hope, faith and
freedom. Gospel songs are messages inspired through
a faith in God. The Broadway Tunes come from many
favorite Broadway Musicals enjoyed worldwide.”
